Bring It Home Prayers | Day Four

A Prayer for Developing a Love for God’s Word

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you for this day. A new day to love and know you, serve and worship you. Lord, I thank you for your precious Word, the Bible, one of the amazing tools you’ve given me to know you.

God, I pray that you would give me a love and a hunger for Your Word, not that I might be puffed up with head knowledge, but that Your Word would transform my heart and way of life.

Help me, as the psalmist said, to treasure Your Word in my heart, that I might not sin against thee. For Your Word is living and active, sharper than any double-edged sword. It also judges the thoughts and ideas, the motives and intentions of the heart. May your word purify my heart and purify me through and through.

God, I recognize I can’t live this life without you and am in desperate need of you. Help me to digest Your Word in order that I might live, know, love, and serve you.

I ask this all, in Jesus’ name, amen.

Amen.

Scripture

  • “For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.” Hebrews 4:12

  • “Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth.” John 17:17

  • “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” Psalm 119:105
