Bring It Home Prayers | Day Three
A Prayer for Spiritual Maturity
Father God,
I thank you for another day. Better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere.
I thank you for allowing me to feel your presence. I know you are with me wherever I go.
I believe that as I draw near to you today, you are also drawing near to me. I pray that you continue to purify my heart and mind. Would you wash me with Your Word and remove any impure thought, desire or emotion and turn my affections towards you.
Your Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path. Through your Word, would you show me which way to go. Would you keep my feet moving toward truth and would you make me more like you.
I recognize that you are the potter and I am the clay. You are the creator and you have created me in your image, fearfully and wonderfully. Today, I declare that your ways are better and higher than mine, and I ask that you continue to deepen my understanding, pour out wisdom on my life, and help me to trust you even when I don’t have the full picture in front of me.
Help me to abide in you so that my faith may grow stronger, my spiritual stamina may increase, and I may bear good fruit. I don’t just want to be made alive in Christ, I want to become mature in Christ.
May love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control overflow out of my heart and life into the lives of those around me because your Holy Spirit is alive and active within me.
Amen.
Scripture
“You are my hiding place; you will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance. I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you.” Psalm 32:7-8
“A single day in your courts is better than a thousand anywhere else! I would rather be a gatekeeper in the house of my God than live the good life in the homes of the wicked.” Psalm 84:10
“Come close to God, and God will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts, for your loyalty is divided between God and the world.” James 4:8
“Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path.” Psalm 119:105
“But now, O Lord, you are our Father; we are the clay, and you are our potter; we are all the work of your hand.” Isaiah 64:8
“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.” Isaiah 55:8-9
“And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ, so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes. Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ,…” Ephesians 4:11-16
“My dear brothers and sisters, if someone among you wanders away from the truth and is brought back, you can be sure that whoever brings the sinner back from wandering will save that person from death and bring about the forgiveness of many sins.” James 5:19-20
“But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks intently at his natural face in a mirror. For he looks at himself and goes away and at once forgets what he was like. But the one who looks into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and perseveres, being no hearer who forgets but a doer who acts, he will be blessed in his doing.” James 1:22-25
“Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children. And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.” Ephesians 5:1-2
“You therefore, beloved, knowing this beforehand, take care that you are not carried away with the error of lawless people and lose your own stability. But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.” 2 Peter 3:17-18
“Him we proclaim, warning everyone and teaching everyone with all wisdom, that we may present everyone mature in Christ.” Colossians 1:28
