Bring It Home Prayers | Day Five
A Prayer for The Body of Christ
Father God,
I thank you for sending your son, Jesus Christ, to save me. I thank you for the redemption I have in Him and your mercies that continue on day after day and never end. I thank you for continuing to shape my mind to think more like you do and exchanging my heart of stone for a heart of flesh.
Today, I ask you to grow my passion for your church. Help me to fight against the monotony of routine and instead, position my heart to worship you and be expectant for your presence to move every single week as I gather with our church family.
Remind me when I’m tempted to do things on my own that you created me to do life in community others. Teach me how to bear with people, to sharpen and be sharpened, to encourage and be encouraged. Break the chains of my consumer mentality. I don’t want to go to church to be served. I want to go to church to serve you and my brothers and sisters in the Body of Christ.
God, please give me an awareness of your presence. Teach me how to be a blessing to others, help me to listen to and obey the nudges of Your Holy Spirit. Open my spiritual eyes to see what you are doing and what you want to do in the lives of the people I cross paths with every week at church. Make me a vessel through which your Holy Spirit can work in the lives of everyone I meet.
I thank you for the gift of the Church, a beautiful community of messed up people who need your grace and love your presence. Make us a pure bride, O God. Increase our love and grace for one another. Let our love be so deep that it gives the world an accurate picture of just how deep your love is.
Amen.
