Mid-Week Devo from Pastor Vernon
Good Day Church! I simply wanted to provide a mid-week follow-up from Sunday’s message to help keep our hearts & minds fastened on God & our word for the year as a church, holiness.
Isaiah 6:3 states, “And one (heavenly beings) called to another: Holy, Holy, Holy is the LORD of Hosts; His glory fills the whole earth.”
Angels and mankind from days of old have always cried out the holiness of God. Even so now, believers all over the world do the same. All of scripture from beginning to end testify of the holiness of God, just as all the earth testifies of the glory of God.
God is holy, completely set-apart, utterly different, fully and one hundred percent pure having no fault or sin within Him. There is no one who can match His grandness or worthy of praise like our God. Revelations 4:11 states it this way:
“Our Lord and God, You are worthy to receive glory and honor and power, because You have created all things, and because of Your will they exist and were created.” Revelation 4:11
God is holy and He’s called His bride, His church, His children to be holy. As we saw in Isaiah 6, after Isaiah was made aware of his sinfulness in the presence of a holy God and became undone, God asked the question, “Who should I send? Who will go for us?” Isaiah replied, “Here I am. Send me.” Isaiah was obedient to the holy call God had on his life.
As with Isaiah, God calls every believer and asks of us things as well. It may not be to be a prophet to a nation, but God clearly calls and asks of us things from His word all the time. The questions is will we obey? As a father, as a husband, or mother, wife, single person, engaged, student, or employee, is there something God’s asking you to do? Are you being obedient to God’s word wherever you find yourself in life at this moment?
You do not have to be a pastor or a prophet to obey the will of God. You simply need to be willing, willing to allow the person of Jesus Christ to live His life in and through you. As followers of Christ, Thank God we do not have to live this life alone, as He has given us His Holy Spirit to live holy and pleasing in His sight.
The holy life truly is the happy life. Let’s live for the Holy One by allowing the Holy One to live His life through us!
“Therefore, with your minds ready for action, be serious and set your hope completely on the grace to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ. As obedient children, do not be conformed to the desires of your former ignorance. But as the One who called you is holy, you also are to be holy in all your conduct; for it is written, Be holy, because I am holy.” 1 Peter 1:13-16
Sincerely and in Christ,
Pastor Vernon
